I've looked around here and found several people saying their e-mail functions on forums (like PHP-Nuke) do not function because the "nobody" user has been disallowed on accuwebhosting hosted sites. In those same threads, I noticed large splatters of code to "fix" the problem, but I'm not sure of how to set it up.
In the configuration section of my forums, I have the ability to change the following information: Use SMTP Server for email (yes/no) -Say yes if you want or have to send email via a named server instead of the local mail function SMTP Server Address SMTP Username -Only enter a username if your SMTP server requires it SMTP Password -Only enter a password if your SMTP server requires it By default, "Use SMTP Server for email" is set to no, which is all fine and good, but when I fill out the e-mail form and email it using the mass e-mail on my phpBB2 boards, it tells me it is sent but never gets delivered (so no error messages, just no e-mail message either). I've also tried to use mail.pspbetapsi.com with my master username / password, which results in the following error message from the boards: Quote:

I've already posted a question on the PHPBB2 boards asking if the board mass e-mail function uses the "nobody" account, can you provide me with any assistance on your end? |

Hi,
Use following configuration: SMTP ADDRESS: 67.15.230.28 SMTP USERNAME: Full email address SMTP Password: password It will work to send emails using PHPBB2. Further, how many emails you're trying to send in one shot?

And there are only 20 or so members on these boards, so its a very small mass e-mail listing. For my test to make sure it works, however, its only 1 e-mail address. |

I have checked the URL and it seems your are using phpBB forum Kindly check for the following configuration in your admin panel of forum:
Admin CP>general admin>configuration and enable the smtp mailer with these settings Servername = mail.pspbetapsi.com Userneme = youremail@pspbetapsi.com password = correctpassword Change username and password with the correct *working* email address. You should able to send receive with these email address using webmail/outlook. I dont think that there is anything need to do with server as there are many other domains also which are using phpBB forum smoothly. Please check it from your end.

On an extra note, I exported my entire database into a .sql.gz file, but when I go to import it, I recieve an error saying that my username (pspbetap, which is the core username) does not have access (from within phpMyAdmin). If I create the database within the control panel, when I go to import the database, it says "databasename already exists" and cannot proceed..etc. etc.
Any work around? (wanted to re-install phpBB and import my database so my usernames/posts were kept..which is where this originates from) |

In the mean time, with my other problem, I've created a test username for the boards and a test e-mail for my domain.
Logins: http://pspbetapsi.com/brothers/ (forums) username: admintest password: test1 http://pspbetapsi.com:2095/ (webmail) username: admintest password: test1 settings for e-mail: mail.pspbetapsi.com Please try to login and send a "mass e-mail" and you can see the error message I get. When I'm certain I have the right login information, I get a "Sender verify failed" error...when the login is incorrect, I get something about an authentication error. |
