Dear visitors,

To promote your website in all major search engines please follow the guidelines given below:

1. Make sure that all your pages have Meta tags for Title, Keywords & Description. Title, Keywords and Description should be relevant to page content.

2. Check your all the website pages for bad links or server errors. Google penalize for all the bad links and server error pages.

3. Always practice to prepare proper sitemap with link to all the pages of your website.

4. Google search algorithms are developed to work based on the page rank technology. Page Rank is composed of keyword relevancy and back link to your pages. Maximum back links to your site equals higher your results in search engine.

Although your pages should have the Title and Description tags the keyword tag is useless.
If your keyword tags have Shrimp or Computers you will get the same ranking.

The title tag should contain all your main keywords since google now considers it very relevant.

Another thing is to customize your 404 error pages so that when the Robot clicks a dead link it will continue to browse your site and will not penalize you.

As for the Backlinks make sure they are one way back links to your site or Google does not consider them relevant.
Good Luck!!!

Well I think, keyword do play very important part in search engine submissions, keywords makes your site more flexible to be fetched through google search bots. Keywords can bring good traffic to your site.

When a search engine visits your site, it's looking at the "skeleton view" of the page, not the fancy and well-designed website that viewers see. Instead, the engines see the source code, or HTML, of a page.

To give you an idea of what the engines see, open your browser and go to any web page. If you're using Netscape, click on View, then Page Source. If you're using Internet Explorer, click on View, then Source.

You're now viewing the skeleton of the page, which we will call the source code.

When an engine visits your site, it sees this HTML, or source code. It considers anything that's toward the top of the page to be more relevant than anything further down on the page. Therefore, the <head> section of your web page, which is at the very top of the page, is extremely important in terms of relevancy, as well as the fact that the <title> tag and META description tag are used in the search results for most engines.

So make sure that you place your keywords toward the top of the page, in the beginning of your keyword-containing tags and in the beginning of your body text.

Many other factors come into play when determining relevancy, including the keyword weight of the page, how popular the website is in terms of link popularity, how frequently the keywords are used, how close to the root domain the page is, and so forth.
I will explain you with an example where you can place the keywords:
Suppose you have a site for Soft Toys:
Keywords in the <TITLE> tag
Example:
<TITLE>Best soft toys</TITLE>
Keywords in the <meta name="description"> tag
Example:
<meta name="description" content="Soft toys">
Note: All META tags should go in the <head></head> section of your page.
Keywords in the <meta name="keyword"> tag
Example:
<meta name="keywords" content="soft toys, toys, best toys">
Remember that sticking in a bunch of keywords in the keyword META tag won't get your page ranked high for all of those keywords. In order to get a top ranking with a keyword phrase, you have to use that phrase throughout your page, in your title tag, and in other tags as well.
Keywords in the <meta http-equiv="keywords"> tag
Example:
<meta http-equiv="keywords" name="keywords" CONTENT="soft toys">
A few of the engines, including AltaVista, consider the content of http-equiv keyword tags for relevancy.
Keywords in the heading tags (h2, h3, etc.) tag
Example:
<h3 ALIGN="CENTER">Best Soft toys</h3>
Many of the engines place considerable relevancy on heading tags, so use them frequently, especially toward the top of your page. You may also want to try putting your entire body text in a small heading tag.
Keywords in the link text
Example:
<A HREF=http://yourwebsite.com/keyword-phrase.htm>Click here for more Soft toys!</A>
Note: When you put your keyword phrases in your URLs, be sure to separate those phrases with a "-" or a "_" instead of running the keywords together. By breaking the words up in some way, the engines will see them as individual words in a phrase. If the words are not broken up, the spiders will see the words as a single term.

I agree on this..it is quite relevant factor to maintain the ranking.

The things that you specified only apply to onpage optimizations, which only make up a small portion of your PR and keyword ranking.

The most important SEO strategy is to generate links to the pages that you want to rank high in both keyword and page rank. The following are the steps I use to build links to my sites.

1. Internal links - I make sure that I optimize my internal links to push PR and ranking to the pages that I want to rank high. I also make sure that I use keyword rich anchor text for all internal links.

2. External links - There are many strategies to get incoming links to your sites, I will just highlight the ones that I have used successfully.

a) Reciprocal Links - Trade links with similiar sites. Make sure that you monitor the sites you trade links with and remove any that no longer link back or are no longer indexed in google.

b) Submit your site to directories, both paid and free. These will generate a lot of one way backlinks very quickly. Again use keyword rich anchor text for the links.

c) Submit Articles with your websites address in the resource box. This will again increase the number of backlinks as other sites republish your article. There is some debate about whether this method works for Google anymore with their strict stance on duplicate content.

d) Participate in forums and put your website address in your signature. Make sure that you are not just posting for the sake of getting your signature noticed. Only make quality posts.
